We are excited to announce NIRSEF 2024 will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 (Judging) and Tuesday, February 27, 2024 (Exhibition and Award Ceremony).

Dsc 2511

Students in grades 3-12 in Elkhart, Fulton, Marshall, St. Joseph, LaPorte, Porter, Starke, Kosciusko, and Lake counties who are selected by judges at their Local School Fair to advance to the Regional level attend NIRSEF. To be eligible for participation, students in grades 3-12 must have a teacher register their school through the Science Education Foundation of Indiana and select their project to move on to the NIRSEF from their Local School Fair. If your school does not have a fair (or you are home-schooled) please contact us about how to register.

The goal of this fair is to expose young minds to the world of science while providing a positive environment for them in which they can experiment, create, and explore under the guidance and with the support of their parents and teachers. Students choose a project topic from a variety of categories and are given the freedom and independence to design a project that suits their interests. The science fair offers an opportunity for children from elementary school through high school to explore the possibilities of hands-on scientific inquiry.
