We are pleased to announce the 2021 Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair will be held virtually on February 27, 2021!
Students in grades 3-12 in Elkhart, Fulton, Marshall, and St. Joseph counties who are selected by judges at their Local School Fair to advance to the Regional level attend NIRSEF. To be eligible for participation, students in grades 3-12 must have a teacher register their school through the Science Education Foundation of Indiana and select their project to move on to the NIRSEF from their Local School Fair.
The goal of this fair is to expose young minds to the world of science while providing a positive environment for them in which they can experiment, create, and explore under the guidance and with the support of their parents and teachers. Students choose a project topic from a variety of categories and are given the freedom and independence to design a project that suits their interests. The science fair offers an opportunity for children from elementary school through high school to explore the possibilities of hands-on scientific inquiry.
We are working through the logistics of the virtual fair and will follow-up with additional details. Please see this 2021 Fair Coordinator Initial Letter to all teachers/schools. For now, all participants should plan to prepare a traditional science fair tri-fold board.
